Ashley Virginia accepted into global cultural exchange program, EthnoUSA
It is with great excitement that I announce I have been accepted as a participant into the global cultural exchange program, EthnoUSA.
Ethno is an international program for folk, world, and traditional music, aimed at young musicians aged 21-30 with a mission to revive and keep alive global cultural heritage amongst youth. Ethno provides a unique opportunity for young people from across the globe to come together and engage through music in a manner characterized by respect, generosity and openness. At the core of Ethno is its democratic peer-to-peer learning approach whereby young people teach each other the music from their countries and cultures.
Through this program, I will lodge & rehearse from Oct 11-24 alongside musicians from around the world at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, a serene mountain retreat across the valley from Lake Eden. The program will be filled with sharing, learning, lots of rehearsing, visits by special guests and EthnoUSA’s school outreach in the area.
This cultural exchange will culminate with 3 performances:
Thursday, Oct 20 @ 3pm
A Community Concert held at the Blue Ridge Assembly Amphitheater. The concert will also be livestreamed on the Ethno World YouTube channel.
Friday, Oct 21 & Saturday Oct 22
EthnoUSA Participants will perform on the mainstage at the LEAF Festival. They will also host a jam at LEAF festival on Friday night.
I look forward to sharing what I learn from this opportunity, and I hope to see you at one of our 3 performances!
