Ashley Virginia Releases New EP "The Life of a Cowboy": A Journey Through Time, Place, and Transformation
North Carolina singer-songwriter Ashley Virginia is excited to announce the release of her latest EP, The Life of a Cowboy. Recorded at historic and eclectic locations, the six-song collection beautifully captures the spirit of resilience, personal growth, and Americana's rich storytelling tradition.
Most of the tracks were recorded at The Street Place, a 200-year-old farmhouse in Glendon, NC, where Ashley is the current artist-in-residence. Collaborating with co-producer and engineer Galen Clark, she brings a unique authenticity to each song, blending classic country, folk, and indie influences. One track, "Better Days," was co-produced with Joe Jackson during a month-long artist residency at the Treehouse of Center Hill in Smithville, TN—a setting that inspired raw and heartfelt performances.
Each song on The Life of a Cowboy tells a story. The lead single, "Cascade Saloon," is a waltzing ode to Greensboro's past, paying tribute to the courageous spirits who made history in the Gate City. "Feel the Breeze Blow" and "Standing on Your Table" explore themes of change and self-reflection, while "Audrey" recounts a near-death experience that transformed Ashley’s relationship with her late grandmother’s memory. The EP closes with "Change Is My God," a rock-infused anthem that grapples with the inevitability of transformation.
