Curated and produced by Ashley Virginia and Alexei Mejouev, “Around Town Sessions” was a project to give local artists the opportunity to perform in the midst of lockdown. From September 2020 - May 2021, Alexei and Ashley recorded and produced 15 different live sessions featuring independent artists from the region. Each session was filmed in a different location around Greensboro, North Carolina.

Quilla

Recorded at Elsewhere Museum in downtown Greensboro, Quilla performs a song in Spanish entitled "Un alma del norte y del sur" (The North-South Soul) from her recent album, The Handbook of Vivid Moments.

She and Ashley Virginia play an improvised vocal loop piece called "I Belong Here" that was inspired by a mural piece known as "you Belong Here" by artist Bronwen Moen, created at Elsewhere. Lastly, Quilla plays a new single entitled "Surreal" that will be coming out on her label, Ritual Fire Records, in summer 2021.

SunQueen Kelcey

The tea wasn’t the only thing that was steaming at Vida Pour Tea Shop. SunQueen Kelcey, our season 2 premiere, brought the heat as she serenaded us with her soulful songs. Dripping with confidence Sunq=Queen blessed us with her radiant vocals and her warm vibes. Not one booty was left unshook. Here she performs her songs Everything, Work of Art, and Around.

As co-producer of this series, it’s only natural that Ashley perform a session herself.
